E. Fay Jones & the Midwest Spirit of Place

Join Powell Gardens' CEO, Tabitha Schmidt and architects Walter Jennings and Lori Yazwinski from Jennings + Santa Rita Architects for an evening discussing E. Fay Jones' architectural impact on Powell Gardens and the region. 

After the discussion, we invite you to explore the Miller Hammond Chapel Study, where light refreshments will be served. Then head out to the Meadow Pavilion to catch the best sunset in Kansas City! Susan Mertz, Director of Horticulture and Conservationist, Julie Copley will also be available to discuss our wildflower prairie around the Chapel. 

Maurice Jennings was employed by E. Fay Jones, Architect in 1973 and worked with Jones for 25 years.  He became the first Associate in “Fay Jones and Associates Architects” in 1976 and became Jones' only partner in “Fay Jones + Maurice Jennings Architects” in 1986. The partnership of “Maurice Jennings + David McKee Architects” was established in 1998 upon Jones' retirement. In 2006 the firm became Maurice Jennings Architects.  In 2011 the firm became “Maurice Jennings + Walter Jennings Architects”.  Lori Yazwinkski became a partner in 2015. After Maurice Jennings passed away in 2016, the firm became “Jennings + Santa-Rita Architects, LLC.” Walter Jennings is the son of Maurice Jennings.
