Soil is more than dirt beneath our feet. It is a living ecosystem that forms the foundation of healthy plants, productive farms, and resilient landscapes. This introductory soil health class explores the basic principles that govern how soil functions and why biology, structure, and organic matter matter far more than inputs alone.

Participants will learn how soil life, from microbes to fungi, drives nutrient cycling, water infiltration, and plant resilience. We’ll cover key indicators of soil health, common signs of degradation, and practical ways land management decisions influence soil over time. This class is designed to build a strong conceptual foundation for farmers, gardeners, land managers, and anyone interested in regenerative and sustainable land stewardship.
